Aker Kvaerner Operations
Aker Kvaerner Operations was established in Q3 2002 and has grown to be a NKr300 million business in a year and a half. It is a company developed out of the mature vision of the North Sea taken by Aker Kvaerner to operate production facilities for oil companies. Aker Kvaerner Operations is a separate legal entity that delivers these services both in Norway and in the UK. Aker Kvaerner Operations is designed to fit the market needs in the mature oil and gas region of the North Sea. Aker Kvaerner Operations is particularly attractive for small, independent players developing their first property and for those players who do not wish to build a large oil company organisation and infrastructure. This provides a strategic choice and alternative for clients, that has previously been provided in-house.
Aker Kvaerner Operations operates on both sides of the UKCS/NCS border and is familiar with both cultures. Contracts include Total Frigg (transferred from Aker Kvaerner Offshore Partner in 2003), Amerada Hess from September 2003 and Duty Holder from May 2004 on AH001 (see Figure 1). Commercial models are individually designed to meet client’s requirements and to fit the responsibility matrixes. These are supported by the key strengths – focus on operations, low fixed cost base and flexibility and access to the Aker Kvaerner network.

Aker Kvaerner Geo
Aker Kvaerner Geo has an experienced and well- trained staff of specialists within the areas of geology, geophysics, petrophysics and reservoir technology. The company, with 55 employees, specialises in sub- surface evaluation. Aker Kvaerner Geo is a knowledge company with a highly educated workforce that has gained extensive experience from work with oil companies both within and outside Norway.
Aker Kvaerner Geo’s specialists are integrated in the oil companies’ organisations and address the different challenges associated with exploration and production activities on the continental shelf – or internally in Aker Kvaerner, with evaluation for oil companies and/or public authorities. Some of them are also working as wellsite geologists on exploration rigs and production platforms in the North Sea. In close co-operation with Aker Kvaerner Operations, Aker Kvaerner Geo’s experts can increase production from the reservoir during the field’s later phases – and even prolong the production period by several years.
Aker Kvaerner Operations’ main office is in Stavanger, but the company is also located in Oslo and Bergen.
