Italgru Srl was founded in 1954 following the merger of a small manufacturer of hoisting equipment and a private group operating in the commercial sector. From the outset, the company undertook a vigorous plan of re-structuring and re-organising in order to perfect its production and achieve the position of leadership it now holds in the sectors of mobile dockside and offshore cranes.
As long ago as 1958, anticipating what would become its market philosophy, Italgru took an important step forward in the field of truck cranes when it presented its model AG 30 with a maximum capacity of 30 tonnes, which at the time was the largest truck crane produced in Italy.
Over the years, Italgru has continued along the same lines and, thanks to the excellent qualifications of its engineers, its workforce and its management, has achieved steady growth in terms of production and sales in the sector of hoisting equipment.
With the production of its mobile harbour cranes on wheels (see Figures 1 and 2), Italgru has achieved the important goal of covering the complete range of machinery for handling large loads, and is concentrating its efforts on technological improvement by expanding its design sector and setting up its own ‘quality control’ function applied to all the machines. Tests on the materials before they go into production are carried out in its own laboratory by its highly qualified personnel. Other notable projects include the T500 Ikalou South Platform (see Figure 3).

hoisting and mechanical equipment in the Italian and world market also belong to this group: Bonfanti Srl, Antonio Badoni SpA and Badoni/Costameccanica Srl. In 2001, the Bonfanti Group acquired a strategic industrial site (the former De Bartolomeis SpA plant) of 125,000m2, with 20,000m2 of buildings and its own railway spur, where it performs all the production pertaining to Italgru’s activities.

Italgru is a limited liability company with the juridical figure of the sole managing director, Renato Bonfanti, who holds the powers of ordinary and special administration and is the legal representative of the company.
