Dear readers I am pleased to introduce Exploration & Production: Oil & Gas Review – Volume 9 Issue 2.
In this issue we cover a range of policy and technical developments in the upstream oil and gas sector. Within these pages, Gawdat Bahgat, from the National Defence University in Washington, explores security issues arising from recent economic and political turmoil in the Middle East. The Heavy Oil section includes papers from leading industry experts including John Ivory (Alberta Innovates – Technology Futures), I Yucel Akkutlu (University of Oklahoma) and Nashaat N Nassar (University of Calgary). Health, Safety and Environment remains at the forefront of the industry, and this issue pays particular attention to reservoir souring, produced water and risk management.
These are but a few of the articles included in this issue, and I would like to thank all the authors for their valued contributions.
