Practicing Electrical Engineers and Electrical Technicians working in potentially Hazardous areas.
Programme Objectives
- Appreciate that electrical items can be the source of ignition that could cause an explosion.
- Understand the terminology such as zones, gas groups, temperature classifications and ingress protection codes.
- Understand the requirements of ATEX and IEC Standards in the work place in relation to the installation and maintenance of equipment.
- Have an understanding of how equipment is certified and labelled in conjunction with ATEX directives.
- Understand the application and methods of protection that can be utilised, in particular Ex d, e, N, p and Intrinsic safety.
- Have looked at the need for inspection to IEC 79-17.
